About Me

I am a NY based photographer and student at SUNY Ulster. I am 19 years old. My passion for photography is rooted in my fascination with the temporary nature of life. Life is characterized by change. With every passing moment, we change a little and so does the world around us.We can have good days, followed by bad days, followed by days we laugh so hard our stomachs hurt, followed by days our heads hurt from crying. Life is a ribbon that continuously slips through our hands and no matter how much we tighten our grips, we cannot stop it. It is kind of daunting, the idea that some of the best moments of our lives now only exist in the forms of memories, which are also temporary. We forget and we die. However, there is a beauty to the passage of time. It is poetic how quickly things change, how quickly feelings change, and how quickly we change. But it is also kind of sad. A moment passes and then it is gone. I used to write journal entry after journal entry trying to capture life before it faded from my memory. There are so many moments to write about. I wish I could record them all. The temporary nature of life gives photography a new significance to me. When I take a photo, I capture a moment, a thought, or a feeling, and turn it into something beautiful that can be shared and appreciated by others. I capture a person in a stage of their life, feeling something, thinking something, and living something they will never experience again. When we look back at photos, we get a glimpse of the past. We get a glimpse into someone’s story. Whether it is a scene witnessed by a photographer or a moment in a subject’s life, I think it is pretty remarkable that we can preserve memories visually to reflect on or share with others. I aspire to capture who a person is in a given moment. In each fleeting moment you become someone completely unique and inimitable. That being said, who are you right now?
